Course Description: This symposium will allow researchers in the fields of biology, genetics, medicine, education, and psychology to disseminate their current findings related to Autism Spectrum Disorders. This symposium will allow Speech-Language Pathologists to understand our current knowledge of the influence of genetics on Autism spectrum disorders and will address current educational and learning models within this population.
As a result of completing this symposium, participants will be able to:
a. State speech, language, social and cognitive issues associated with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
b. Explain our current understanding of the influence of genes on Autism Spectrum Disorders
c. List intervention techniques that can be used with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders
