Sample a Class
While you can't audit or visit an MFA class, you can register to take an undergrad creative-writing class taught by Hunter MFA students, in which you'll study the five distinguished visiting writers visiting the MFA program during the semester (here are the past and upcoming writers) and you'll also get a private class visit from each of these writers. In past semesters, they've included Zadie Smith, Sharon Olds, Michael Ondaatje, Margaret Atwood and Augusten Burroughs. The class is open to people who are not Hunter students. Course Name: Distinguished Living Writers
Course Number: HUM150
Description
An undergrad creative-writing class -- taught by Hunter MFA students -- in which you'll study the
work of the five visiting distinguished writers who visit the MFA program during the semester. You'll get a private class visit each of from these writers, during which you can meet them and ask them questions about their work and creative writing in general. You'll also attend their readings during the semester.
Class Times
You can select a class that fits your schedule. There are usually some that meet in the daytime and others that meet in the evening. You can find the details on CUNYfirst. The class lasts for one semester and runs each Fall and Spring. You'll also need to be free to attend the five readings that these writers give, during the semester. Each reading will be at 7.30pm on a Tuesday.
Payment
You'll need to be able to make the payment for a single undergrad class, approx $1,300. You'll also need to register as a nonmatriculated student to take the class -- no auditors are permitted.

1. Fill out a Hunter Non-Degree Admissions Application here.
2. Once your application is approved (this may take a few weeks) you can register for the course – the code is HUM15000 -- via CUNYfirst (Hunter's online registration system). Instructions are here.
