Academic Advising - Winter/Spring 2021

In addition to general academic advising, handled by the Office of Student Services, the Computer Science Department offers discipline-specific advising dealing with academic matters largely particular to Computer Science and the administration of the Department.


Ms. Amanda Bell is available for virtual drop-in office hours for the month of March.  She was a computer science advisor through February 2020, when she returns to graduate school to finish her doctorate in computer science.  She is joining us temporarily as she puts the finishing touches on her thesis.  She can be reached at


Ms. Emely Peguero is the advisor for information regarding applicable courses, pre-requisites, over-tallying and other matters pertaining to registration and departmental rules and regulations. She can answer questions about CS courses, the CS department, general Hunter core requirements, and other matters pertaining to registration and Hunter rules and regulations. Entering Freshmen or students newly transferred from other academic institutions (CUNY and non-CUNY) are advised to schedule an appointment with her. Appointments may be scheduled here:

Mr. Justin Tojeira is the official CS advisor for a cohort of 150-or-so more advanced students affiliated with the CUNY 2-X Grant. Each semester, Mr. Tojeira reaches out to this group for one-on-one advising, tutorials on internships and the like. Appointments must be scheduled through

Mr. Eric Schweitzer provides guidance for other students further along in their academic careers and also determines elegibility for course equivalencies. Likewise, appointments for advising can be made on his “Acuity” site.
