Credit By Exam
The Computer Science Department offers exceptionally well-prepared students the opportunity to receive academic credit by examination for CSCI 127 (Introduction to Computer Science), CSCI 135 (Analysis & Design 1/C++ Programming) and CSCI 150 (Discrete Structures) by sitting for and successfully completing a comprehensive examination in any or all of the above areas.
Several points concerning the administrative workings of this exam should be made clear:
The student must achieve a grade of 80% (B) or higher in order to receive credit for the exam.
The student will pay no fee for the course and will receive no final letter grade: only "Credit by Exam" will be noted on the student's transcript. By college policy it is not possible to receive a letter grade for such an exam.
The exam will be offered several times throughout the academic year, before the end of the following semester's registration.
Students may also schedule an individual sitting of an exam at a mutually convenient time between the student and supervising departmental personnel.
Two hours are allowed for the examination for CSCI 135; three hours for exams for CSCI 127 and 135.
The exam will cover the entire semester's syllabus
