For Computer Science Majors: The Bioinformatics Concentration

A new interdisciplinary concentration has been created for computer science majors. This cutting-edge research area involves computer scientists, biologists, chemists, and mathematicians and statisticians in fields such as computational biology, biological software engineering, protein chemistry, biostatistics and other hi-tech areas of research involving the health and well-being of the human population. Computer science students in the bioinformatics track follow the curriculum listed below:

Computer Science Component - 26 Credits

  • CSCI 13500 (4 cr.): Software Analysis and Design I
  • CSCI 15000 (4 cr.): Discrete Structures
  • CSCI 23500 (3 cr.): Software Analysis and Design II
  • CSCI 26500 (3 cr.): Computer Theory I

Biology Component - 12 Credits
