Prof. Oyekoya Awarded NSF REU Grant in Immersive 3D Visualization

Prof. Wole Oyekoya

The National Science Foundation has awarded Prof. Oyekoya a Research Experience for Undergraduates Site Grant, focusing on immersive 3D Visualization.   The award funds an on-site summer program to enable ten undergraduate students each year to undertake Immersive 3D Visualization research projects at Hunter College, City University of New York (CUNY). The intended impact is to use the creative potential of Immersive 3D technology to attract and broaden participation of women and underrepresented minorities in STEM and computing fields. Recruiting of students will begin Winter 2022, and the program will begin Summer 2022.

Prof. Oyekoya joined Hunter as Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department in Fall 2019.  His academic work has focused on eye tracking for image search and retrieval, and on medical image retrieval.
