Our group programming is designed to help you develop skills to strengthen and develop new coping strategies to buffer the adverse impacts of daily stressors. By attending a workshop, you can discover new ways to engage and interact with others while balancing the demands of your academic and personal life. Stress Management: Strategies for Success

Are you looking for new ways to manage your stress during COVID-19? In this workshop, we'll identify and address unhealthy behaviors before they become a barrier to your success. Learn to better manage your stress levels and reverse unhealthy coping behaviors. We will discuss healthy methods of coping and will equip you with solid strategies to combat the stress in your daily life.

Fostering Healthy Relationships

Do you struggle to effectively navigate the relationships in your life? Do you experience difficulty having your needs met within relationships? Join us to learn strategies to enhance self-awareness, while developing self-care skills, to more effectively engage in relationships. Learn conflict resolution skills by developing more effective methods of communication, while learning how to identify the signs of healthy vs. unhealthy relationships.

Preventing Procrastination:

Finding New Ways of Thinking and Coping with Academic Stress

Are you finding it a challenge to manage competing academic demands, while staying on top of assignments? Falling behind academically can lead to increased stress and can cause problems in multiple areas of one’s life. This workshop is designed to help you approach your academic demands differently by discovering new pathways of thinking. You will be encouraged to challenge unhelpful thoughts and re-frame your thinking, which can often lend to productive outcomes, including increased focus and heightened academic success.

Mastering Anxiety

Do you find it difficult to make friends, focus on academics or feel confident in social situations? Join us for a cognitive behavior therapy informed workshop designed to help you to better understand how your thoughts can impact your feelings and behaviors. Learn skills to reduce excessive thinking, social anxiety and stress related to academic performance and social interactions. This workshop is designed for undergraduate students who wish to better manage their anxiety and stress levels.

Racism, Injustice & Change Support Group

This drop-in support group provides a space to discuss the ways in which the current racial/socio-political climate has impacted your mental health. Facilitated by CWS counselors, this group allows students to explore how power, privilege and racial injustice have affected their emotional health and shaped their identities. We'll discuss how you can cope with these stressors in a healthy manner, while exploring the ways in which you can potentially affect change.

Registration is not required. However, attendance will be capped at 15 students per meeting. If the meeting you wish to attend is full, please email us that you were unable to log in and we will help to facilitate your participation in the following week's meeting.

Drop-In Support Group: Coping with COVID-19

This is a virtual supportive discussion group for current students who are experiencing personal and academic difficulties related to COVID-19. The group will focus on developing positive coping strategies, problem-solving techniques, and resilience. This is an opportunity to express yourself, hear from others, and support one another, with guidance from licensed mental health professionals.
