Undergraduate Programs
The Hunter College Dance Program provides enjoyable and challenging opportunities for the study of dance in a liberal arts environment. Many classes are open to the entire Hunter College student body and our performances are open to the general public. For the student who wishes to pursue an in-depth examination of dance, the major or minor provides opportunities for academic scholarship, creative investigation, and professional preparation. As members of an active and renowned liberal arts community, the Dance Program believes the best preparation for out students is a well-rounded education that focuses on individual interests and abilities within a highly rigorous curriculum.

Major/Minor The Dance Major at Hunter College nurtures individual
creativity, disciplined practice, and rigorous scholarship in the context of a
strong liberal arts education. Courses focus on a broad range of topics in the field, taught by
recognized artist/teachers active in the NYC dance community. Bi-weekly Wednesday afternoon showings of undergraduate choreographic projects bring together student choreographers and their casts for viewings by full-time and select adjunct choreographic advisors. Student work is presented during a fall Works-in-Progress Studio Concert and spring semester performances at the Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse and Studio Theater. Repertory from local NYC guest choreographers are presented at these concerts as well. Auditions for Rep are conducted by the incoming guest choreographers to select participants.
