Contemporary Technique II (Tech 2) Description:

In this class, we work with the technical and stylistic aspects of contemporary dance. Each class includes a warm-up in which we focus on preparing an alert, articulate, and neutral body ready for full-out dancing. The use of basic anatomical principles, release, momentum, weight and strength, leads into phrase work, which utilizes a wide range of physicality, movement qualities, and coordinations. Some of the goals of this course are: heightened self-awareness, clarity, and simplicity of movement delivery. Above all, I am interested in developing a supportive and open space for students to be “in dance” together.
