Vicky Shick

Vicky Shick has been involved with the New York dance community for the past three decades. During her six years with the Trisha Brown Company, she received a “Bessie” Award for performance. Shick has also worked and performed with many New York-based colleagues.  She has shown her own work for the last twenty years mostly with collaborators Barbara Kilpatrick and sound designer, Elise Kermani.  In 2003, she received a second “Bessie” for choreographic achievement for her collaborations with visual artist, Barbara Kilpatrick. Shick teaches at Hunter College, for the Trisha Brown Company, at Movement Research, and regularly abroad, including in her hometown, Budapest. She has staged Trisha Brown repertory pieces at Dickinson College, Hunter College, Princeton University, Rutgers University, Sarah Lawrence College and at the Contemporary Dance College in Budapest and The Theatre School in Amsterdam. In addition, Shick has created dances at Arizona State, Barnard College, and George Washington University. Her most recent work, “Everything You See,” was presented at Danspace Project this past April. Shick is a 2006 grant recipient from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts and was a Guggenheim Foundation Fellow in 2008-2009.
