Faculty member Pedro Ruiz featured in Dance Teacher Magazine!

Congratulations to Pedro, who was featured in Dance Teacher Magazine Online for his work with The Windows Project! His hard work facilitated the artistic, cultural, and educational exchange between the Arnhold Graduate Dance Education Program and Ballet Contemporaneo de Camaguey!

Congratulations to Our Faculty member, Pedro Ruiz who was recently featured in an online article of the Dance Teacher website where they detail his hard work and accomplishments with his involvement in the Arnhold Graduate Dance Education program and the Ballet Contemporaneo de Camaguey. Pedro Ruiz is a faculty member here at Hunter Dance for both the Graduate and Undergraduate programs. He teaches our Undergraduate course Contemporary dance technique 1, our Graduate course Physical Training and our joint class for both Undergraduate and Graduate students Partnering.

Pedro Ruiz created the Windows Project to help foster a cross-cultural understanding and dialogue through performance by involving both American and Cuban artists to collaborate. This project has brought not only choreographic opportunities to many dance companies in Cuba but also educational opportunities that benefit companies such as the Ballet Contemporaneo de Camaguey. Last year Pedro Ruiz invited two graduate students to accompany him to Camaguey, Cuba for a week of cultural and educational exchange through the windows project.

In February 2018, The Ballet Contemporaneo de Camaguey will premiere Pedro’s new work "Taking the Soul for a Walk" at the Kaye Playhouse here at Hunter College. Be on the lookout for this amazing performance. The Dance Department is very proud of Pedro Ruiz!
