Special Opportunities
Hunter College Students have many opportunities to participate in special events including participation in local (NYC) college exchanges, regional (Northeast) festivals, and national/internation tours.
2010: Students Andrea Cassidy and Chen Shoham presented their group dance works for adjudication and students. Olsi Gorjec and Siomara (CeeCee) Bridges showed their group works at the informal concert for the NE ACDFA in Erie, PA. Student Katie Bolton showed her group work at Dance Theater Workshop as part of the College Partnership Program with other NYC area schools.
2009: Hunter College dancers attended the American College Dance Festival Northeast Conference at Penn State.
2007: Hunter College dance majors and faculty spent a week in classes, rehearsals, lecture/demonstrations, and performances on the island of Tobago in June. The tour was co-sponsored by the Tobagonian government and Hunter College, as part of an effort to initiate a long-term relationship of cultural and artistic exchange. Highlights of the tour were: classes in a variety of local dances taught by Tobagonian master teachers; interaction with Tobagonian dancers in classes taught by Hunter faculty; two lecture demonstration/performances for local primary and secondary school students; a formal gala performance of 10 company repertory dances, including student and guest artist works in a wide variety of styles; participation in the kick-off parade and performance for the island’s major “Heritage Festival”; attendance at local theater and dance events; and, touring to the delightful natural wonders of the island: coral reefs, mountains, idyllic beaches.
