About Us
As educators, we have an obligation to prepare you for an increasingly globally connected world and to give you essential tools of citizenship and leadership in the 21st century. Such tools include foreign language skills, cross-cultural understanding, and an appreciation of our diverse and interconnected world.
Study abroad programs provide some of the best opportunities for such critical learning. Since early civilization, students and scholars have traveled to other lands to join scholarly communities outside their own home countries. Today, international education is more essential then ever, not only to advance learning and scholarship but to foster understanding and respect among different people, which is necessary for peace, security and economic development.
The Hunter College Education Abroad Program provides Hunter students with many opportunities to study abroad, through a variety of programs both short-term (during Summer Sessions and Winter Intersession) as well as long term (semester- and year-long programs are available). Between the programs run by our office as well as by other CUNY colleges, several SUNY universities and USAC (University Studies Abroad Consortium), we have the world pretty well covered. Make this world your classroom!
