ADVISING

Meet with an advisor to plan your study abroad experience!

If you are thinking about studying abroad but you're not sure what to do, how to do it and where to begin, talking to a study abroad advisor is an essential part of the process. We will help guide you, answer questions, and together, make sure you'll stay on track with your graduation requirements when you're abroad.

First, consult our programs and familiarize yourself with the options you have: Hunter programs and exchanges, CUNY programs, affiliated programs (SUNY, CIEE, CISabroad, IES Abroad, and USAC), and external opportunities.

Second, meet with an advisor. The Office of Education Abroad (1447E) has Fall 2019 advising hours on Mondays (12:00pm-2:00pm) and Fridays (11:00am-3:00pm).

You can schedule an advising appointment to explore:

  • What are the best possible time(s) for you to study abroad? It's never too early to start planning!
  • What do you hope to gain from studying abroad in relation to your academic, personal, or career goals?
  • What degree requirements do you need to fulfill during the time you are abroad?
  • Is there a foreign language you are interested in learning or improving?
  • What kind of financial aid or scholarships are available?
  • What level of pre-departure and on-site support do you want or need?
  • Do you want to live in a city, suburb, or rural area?
  • What kind of housing do you prefer-student housing, homestay, or independent housing?
  • Do you want to focus on one subject intensively or take a variety of courses?
  • What internships, excursions, or other opportunities do you want the program to offer?

If you would like to meet one on one with an advisor, please schedule your advising appointment today:

Come prepared with some ideas of where you'd like to go abroad and/or when you are interested in studying abroad (summer, winter, semester).
