Summer Programs 2018


Application Deadline: March 22, 2018

We have two scholarships of $2,542.50 that we can give to two qualified Hunter students participating in any of our Summer 2018 programs. Students must demonstrate their financial need by providing their Expected Family Contribution for the academic year 2017-18 and show that they are not receiving any other scholarships.

Students should not purchase flights before the orientation session. Arrival and departure information will be discussed then, and details are subject to change.

Costa Rica

Hunter College joins forces with the International Center for Development Studies (ICDS) and Hospital Clinica Biblica to offer students planning to enter health professions a six-week program, which will provide them the opportunity to explore health care issues in a developing country while furthering their Spanish language skills and gaining an understanding of the life and culture of Costa Rica.

Dates: June 28 - August 11, 2018

Spanish & Community Health in Latin America

The School of Education at Hunter College offers a short, intensive program in San Jose, Costa Rica, open to students with a BA degree or higher. The program is offered in collaboration with ILISA Educational Experiences.

Dates: July 14 - July 31, 2018

Teaching English in Global Contexts


This field course provides students with a unique opportunity to gain research experience in the field by participating in a study of the vocalizations and behavior of wild dolphins.

Dolphin Behavior & Communication

Canary Islands

This course will offer a nontraditional view of the Spanish Conquest of the Americas and the Canary Islands through the study of historical, literary, artistic and cultural texts. Students will focus on the study of the indigenous inhabitants of the Canary Islands and their experience of the conquest of the archipelago and the Americas.


Dates: July 1 - July 24, 2018

Decentering the Spanish Conquest


This program will explore the diversity of theatrical offerings in London and vicinity, providing a wide-ranging rich understanding of British theater practiced today, both traditional and modern.

Dates: July 21 - August 18, 2018

Contemporary British Theater


This program is run at the prestigious L'Universite de Technologie de Compiegne (UTC). CUNY students will study alongside students from several other countries.

Dates: July 2 - July 28, 2018

French Language Immersion


The program takes place at DIALOG-Institut in Kassel. Kassel, the regional capital of the Hesse region for over a thousand years, with spectacular palaces and parks that witness the city's past glory.

Dates: 4-week sessions in June, July, or August (starting day of classes May 28, last class August 17 with host families available May 27 - August 18)

German Language & Culture in Kassel


The Central Mediterranean Archaeology program takes places in two locations in Sicily: Stromboli, a volcanic island in the Aeolian Archipelago, and Cannatello, on the southern coast of Sicily.

Sicily: Central Mediterranean Archeology


The program will explore the "Baltic chapter" of Russian literature and culture and offer students unlimited opportunities for immersive language learning. Join us for this exciting month-long field trip through Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, learn about their ties with Russia in the past and today, and enjoy East European culture while getting some course work done.

Russian Language & Literature


The program, organized in cooperation with the Kosciuszko Foundation and offered at the prestigious Jagiellonian University, includes intensive Polish language instructions.

Polish Language & Culture


The experience of living and working on the North Atlantic island of Rousay immerses students in northern maritime ecology and provides a chance to do real field science as part of an international team.

Dates: June 26 - July 21, 2018 (4 weeks)
           June 26 - August 4, 2018 (6 weeks)

Orkney: Gateway to the Atlantic


Experience one of the liveliest cities in the world: Madrid! The program encompasses college-level undergraduate programs for six credits each in June or July, or one Intensive Program for twelve credits - June and July combined.
