Program Fee: $1,885 (estimate) includes housing with breakfast, New Year's Eve party, RT ground transportation from BsAs to MdP, excursions, and international health and travel insurance. TUITION and AIRFARE are NOT included in the program fee. All students are responsible for arriving at their study abroad location by the first day of the program; this may mean flying the day before.

Payment Schedule: $350 application fee and deposit is due with the application. $1,535 (program fee balance; estimate) is due November 28, 2017. Payments must be made with certified check or money order. NO CASH, PERSONAL CHECKS OR CREDIT CARDS.

Students are responsible for meeting the payment deadline regardless of funding source, i.e. Macaulay Opportunities Fund, loans, or any other type of financial aid. Late fees will be applied to all delayed payments (see Education Abroad Application Instructions and Policies).

II) Program Description

Spend three days in Buenos Aires, visiting several renowned sites and various neighborhoods. You will have a chance to watch (and perhaps dance!) tango and eat the most delicious beef in the world. Then, cross the famous gauchos' pampas and arrive at the beautiful beaches of Mar del Plata, lodging in a comfortable hotel near the shore. Take six credits in Spanish language or literature at the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, one of the most prestigious in Argentina. The small classes are staffed with one instructor and several local student-assistants (students in the Humanities Division of the same university), who will take you to exciting places in order to practice conversation, get you acquainted with the local culture, and make you feel at home.

Site Visits & Excursions

Capital City of Buenos Aires (three days), City of Mar del Plata and the surrounding countryside. Life at the Pampas: farming and cattle raising, horseback riding, Creole barbecue, country games, country and gaucho museum. The sea sports: boating, swimming. Argentina's cultural life: shows, theatre, and cinema.

III) Prerequisites & Credits

Pre-requisites: Spanish 101 or equivalent. All students must meet with Professor Schinaider to discuss the courses they would take abroad!

Credits & Grades: Students in this program will receive both credits and letter grades. Grades will count toward their Hunter GPA.
