Welcome to the the Office of Education Abroad at Hunter College

All non-essential university-related international and domestic travel is indefinitely suspended at this time. This includes the suspension of all Spring 2020 and Summer 2020 study abroad programs. It also includes all CUNY-sponsored student international travel (including spring break), non-CUNY credit-bearing programs, and non-credit travel under the auspices of CUNY or any CUNY college or student organization.  Please know that credits earned on non-CUNY study abroad programs this summer will not be accepted by the University.

For further information, please visit: https://www.cuny.edu/coronavirus/#academic-travel

FALL 2020 applications are still being accepted.

We know that the uncertainty around COVID-19 (coronavirus) and related travel restrictions is causing anxiety for students who have been planning to study abroad. To help ease the uncertainty you may be experiencing, we are working on guidelines for all students related to all fall 2020 programs. We will reach out to all students that have applied to programs separately by email and we will keep our website updated with information on the status of future programs and applications as it develops, so please check back often!

We are here to support international education opportunities for students at Hunter College by providing access to quality study abroad opportunities that engage students with the local environment through coursework, internships, and service learning opportunities.

Our staff can guide students and faculty to identify an international experience that fits their goals and interests.

Visit our website and choose from hundreds of study abroad options, including Hunter faculty led, CUNY-wide sponsored programs, university exchanges, and approved provider programs.

Please keep in mind, all students applying to study abroad, whether through a Hunter program or not, MUST apply to the Office of Education Abroad first for approval.  See our Eligibility Requirements for more information.

The first step to study abroad is to attend a  Study Abroad 101, information session.  101 Sessions are designed to give students an overview of studying abroad through Hunter College, the present various program types (winter, summer, semester, Hunter faculty led, provider, or exchange etc.), understanding the financial resources (aid, scholarships etc.), and getting started on an applicationSign up here !

In the meantime, take time to watch the Planning to Study Abroad video and get answers to many of the questions about what, where, and how!
