Welcome to the Office of Education Abroad at Hunter College

The Office of Education Abroad is operating remotely and you can CONTACT US here.

The Hunter Office of Education Abroad is here to support international education opportunities for students by providing access to quality study abroad opportunities that engage students with the local environment through coursework, internships, and community service learning opportunities.

CUNY COVID-19 Study Abroad policy:

In light of continued concerns over student health and safety, persistent travel restrictions, and countries' evolving entry requirements due to the COVID-19 pandemic, international student travel for academic credit (study abroad) for summer 2021 has been suspended.

A phased restart of study abroad programming will be announced by CUNY with the approval of New York State as soon as conditions permit. In the meantime, international travel in CUNY and non-CUNY study abroad programs is discouraged. Please know that pursuing any other types of programs is a private undertaking and is not eligible for CUNY's international travel insurance or credit.

Fall 2021: At this time, we have delayed the opening of fall applications until an update is available. The earliest that we may open any applications, if applicable, would be the end of February. Deadlines will be adjusted accordingly, as needed. We cannot guarantee that Hunter will sponsor any international travel, including study abroad, this fall. We continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation globally and follow guidance from CUNY on policies and procedures guiding student travel abroad.

We will continue to update this page as new information becomes available, so check back regularly. Should you have any questions after reviewing this website, please do not hesitate to write to us at edabroad@hunter.cuny.edu

Please keep in mind, all students applying to study abroad, whether through a Hunter or CUNY program, MUST apply to the Office of Education Abroad first for approval.

In the meantime, take time to watch the Planning to Study Abroad video and get answers to many of the questions about what, where, and how!
