Power Outage

If there is a power outage, please remain in your office or classroom and listen for announcements from Public Safety. The Hunter College public address system runs on generator power and can operate during a power outage. In the MFA Building, you'll be notified by Public Safety officers.

The West, East, and North Buildings at the 68th Street campus are equipped with generators that will enable the building to provide minimal services such as emergency lighting and the use of one elevator in each elevator bank. The standard procedure is to evacuate each building by floor in order to avoid overcrowding in the stairwells. In the past, the College has attempted to keep the West Building Lobby open with emergency lighting and restroom facilities for members of the community who may be stranded or need to rest.
