Meena Alexander is Distinguished Professor of English at Hunter College and the Graduate Center. Her work has been widely anthologized and translated. She is the author of five books of poetry including Raw Silk and Illiterate Heart, winner of a 2002 PEN Open Book Award. Her memoir Fault Lines chosen as one of Publishers Weekly's Best Books of 1993 appeared in a new expanded edition in 2003. Professor Alexander has received awards from the Fulbright Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Arts Council of England, Fondation Ledig-Rohwolt, The New York Foundation for the Arts, the MacDowell Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities, and the American Council of Learned Societies. She is the editor of the anthology Indian Love Poems (to be published in January 2005). She is currently working on a volume of autobiographical poems and a book of essays about poetry, migration and memory. For links to Professor Alexander, go to:
