Peter Carey's novels have won every major Australian Literary award, including the Miles Franklin (3 times) and the National Book Council Award (3 times). His is also a two-time winner of the booker (Oscar and Lucinda, 1988 and True History of the Kelly Gang, 2001.)
His most recent novel is My Life as a Fake. Carey holds three Honorary Doctorates and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, an Honorary Fellow of The Australian Academy of the Humanities, and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has taught at Hunter College since 2003.
