Cooperman Library Energy Efficiency Project

Currently at about 90% complete, this project is a needed upgrade to the regulation of climate in Hunter's Cooperman Library, encompassing floor 7 down to the B3 level of the East Building. The improvements include the replacement of three air handling units, replacement of all perimeter induction units and variable air volume boxes, a new chilled water blending station, and upgrades to the controls which run the entire system. The control system is available to engineers via desktop computer, which means that the system can be monitored, programmed and controlled remotely and conveniently. Additionally, tinted film is being applied to all windows on floors 7 and below, which will block a high percentage of heat and UV rays that would normally pass into the building and increase interior heat load. These efforts will all result in a more comfortable environment in which to study and learn, with the added benefit of energy efficiencies.
