Financial Aid

Welcome to the Office of Financial Aid at Hunter College.

The mission of the Office of Financial Aid is to provide Hunter students with the knowledge, services and skills they need to obtain financing for their higher education. We work to ensure that all student applications for financial aid are fully and accurately prepared and processed on time.

One of Hunter’s critical goals is helping students obtain the maximum possible federal, state and institutional funding to offset the rising cost of education and living expenses. By taking advantage of the Office of Financial Aid’s services, students can identify the institution aid and scholarships they need to cover much of the cost of attending Hunter. Please check out our website and contact us for help with your financial aid.

Best wishes for a successful academic year.

Hunter College Scholarships

Students who are interested in applying for Hunter College scholarships must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA application is the ONLY form you need to file to be considered for Hunter scholarships. You can complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. (New York State residents should also complete the HESC TAP Application.)

The Priority Filing Deadline for the 2011-2012 academic year has passed.

Scholarship Award notices will be emailed to selected candidate’s Hunter email accounts after July 1, 2011.

Scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria: merit, need, grade point average and declaration of a major course of study. In most cases, scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis. Therefore, two equal disbursements will be made, half in the fall semester and the other half of the award in the spring semester.
