Applying for a Direct Loan
Hunter College participates in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program.
To be eligible for William D. Ford Federal Direct Loans, a student must be:
- a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen;
- admitted and enrolled as a matriculated student;
- Determined to be eligible for the loan after completion of the FAFSA and no errors or verification pending for the FAFSA.
- Students must be registered for at least six credits per semester to apply and must maintain enrollment in at least six credits at the time the check is disbursed.
The steps below will assist you in applying for a Federal Direct Loan at Hunter College. Prior to receiving loan funds, students are required to submit a Direct Loan Application, complete the Entrance Counseling Interview and sign a Master Promissory Note if required.
