Scholarships

Scholarship-page-pictStudents who are interested in applying for scholarships at Hunter College may complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Please note that you must have a current FAFSA on file in order to be considered for Hunter College Scholarships. You can log on to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov to complete the FAFSA application.

The information that students provide on the FAFSA will be used to match available scholarships from various college-based sources with students who may be eligible.

The Office of Financial Aid will also use this FAFSA information when calculating your eligibility for all aid received at Hunter College. The Bursar's Office will be notified of any awards you've received, and if there is an outstanding tuition liability due to Hunter College, your scholarship will be applied to this debt. After both offices have certified and approved the disbursement, any awards you've received will be applied to your current tuition bill. If you are due a reimbursement, you will receive a check from the Bursar's Office.

Scholarships are usually awarded based on the following criteria: merit, need, grade point average and declaration of a major course of study. In most cases, scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis. Therefore, two equal disbursements will be made, half in the Fall semester and the other half of the award in the Spring semester.
