Learning Centers & Computer Laboratories
Chanin Language Center
The Chanin Language Center, located in Room 209 Hunter West, is a state-of-the-art multi-media foreign language learning facility. The center includes a classroom and an independent study lab equipped with 55 multi-media workstations. Students can supplement their language learning from the elementary to the advanced level by working with computerized study modules, CD-ROMs and digitized audio-visual programs based on textbooks and/or lab manuals.
Dolciani Mathematics Learning Center
The Dolciani Mathematics Learning Center (formerly called the Math Learning Resource Center) is located in Rooms 300 through 305HN. The Center is a Resource Center providing computer assisted tutorials, audio-visual materials, videotapes, and workshops for students enrolled in basic skills, algebra, elementary education, pre-calculus, calculus, statistics, and other Mathematics and Statistics courses.
Instructional Computing Services
Open laboratory of PCs and Macs available for all students, faculty, and alumni located on the 10th floor of Hunter North.
Physical Sciences Learning Center
The Physical Sciences Learning Center a part of the New York City AMP. The Center provides tutoring in Physics, Chemistry, and Astronomy. We have computers with Excel, Wordperfect, and Internet services. The Center also contains a library of both physical science textbooks and videos.
Reading/Writing Center
The Reading Writing Center offers tutorials and computer-assisted instruction for improvement of reading, writing, and computer skills.
Social Sciences Computing Lab
The Social Sciences Computing Lab is located on the sixth floor of Hunter West (entrance through HW 607). The lab is used primarily as a computer classroom for social science departments, but when there are gaps between classes it is opened for walk-in hours -- all Hunter students admitted. Due to the complex schedule of class reservations, walk-in hours vary from week to week as well as day to day. The current and next weeks' walk-in hours are posted on the door and on the Lab's website, which is at: http://urban.hunter.cuny.edu/ssl.
Socrates Center
The Socrates Center is a multimedia learning center for biology students. Non-biology students may use the Center as well. It is a quiet place to study, connect with other students and utilize a number of computer, audiovisual and printed resources. Students may also use our computers to write papers, check e-mail and browse the Internet. In addition, BIOL 100/102 instructors will hold their office hours in the Center.
