After Graduation

What do German majors and minors do after graduation?

Our recent alumni are using their language abilities to build careers at the German American Chamber of Commerce, the German Consulate General New York, the German Academic Exchange Service, and the Goethe-Institut New York.

Our German majors and minors have gone on to graduate school in German, linguistics, law, international relations, urban studies, public policy, history, English, comparative literature, library science, art history, and art & design. They have found work in high schools, colleges, publishing houses, museums, consulting agencies, and non-profits.

Students often ask how they can spend time in Europe after graduation. Here are a few helpful links to get you started (please let us know if you have others to recommend). Please contact one of our faculty members to talk more about your options!

Deutschland.de has lots of general information about traveling to Germany. They also offer specifics about studying in Germany, including how to apply.

The DAAD also offers help with plans for studying in Germany, including how to meet admissions requirements.
