Applied Digital Sociology

Applicants who have completed all or part of their university studies in a non-US institution and/or require student visas must submit their applications no later than February 1  to be considered for Fall admission and September 15 to be considered for Spring admission.

Admission Requirements:

You must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for admission.  Meeting these minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance to the program.

  • Minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0.
  • At least 3 credits in statistics, 3 credits in research methods 3 credits in sociological theory,  are required.  If you have not taken these courses, applicants should consider finding a way to take these (undergraduate) courses before applying to the master's program. A degree in sociology or other social science are desirable but not required.
  • Two letters of recommendation from appropriate academic or professional sources.
  • A statement of purpose of approximately 500 words, which describes what your overall career and life goals are, and why you want to study in this program specifically. In other words, make your best case about why this program is the one that will help you achieve your goals. In reviewing applications, we place try to assess each applicant’s interests and how this program might fulfill those.
  • Applicants whose first language is not English and who have taken all or part of their undergraduate education in a country where English is not the primary language are required to submit scores on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)/International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The following minimum scores must be obtained:
      • TOEFL iBT: 80/ Paper Based Test: 550/ Computer Administered Test: 213
      • IELTS: 6.5 Overall
