School of Education

 

The School of Education offers programs to prepare teachers, counselors and administrators for a wide range of careers in schools and non-profit settings. Most programs lead to certification in a particular field, as defined by the New York State Department of Education. All of the programs are registered with New York State and many are nationally recognized by specialized professional associations.

Please note: Certificate and Advance Certificate programs are NOT ELIGIBLE for Federal Financial Aid

Application Deadlines:

International applicants who have completed all or part of their university studies in a non-US institution and/or require student visas must submit their applications no later than February 1 to be considered for Fall admission and September 15 to be considered for Spring admission.

Spring Admission Deadline: October 15

Fall Admission Deadline: March 15 *most programs in the School of Education

The following programs have Fall Admission only
Adolescent Special Education MSEd (online pathway) and Adv. Cert. (March 15) Early Childhood Development and Learning Diverse Children and Families Adv. Cert. (March 15)
Childhood Special Education Adv. Cert Learning Disabilities Concentration (March 15) EdD in Instructional Leadership (February 15)
Childhood with STEM Specialization (March 15) Educational Psychology (March 15)
Computer Science Education (March 15) Elementary Math Specialist (March 15)
Dance Education (March 15)

 


General Application Requirements:

Minimum TOEFL scores for all programs:

  • Overall: TOEFL iBT: 90/ Paper Based Test: 575/ Computer Administered Test: 233
  • Writing: TOEFL iBT Writing Section: 22/ Paper Based Test of Written English: 4.5
  • Speaking: TOEFL iBT Speaking Section: 23/ Paper Based Test of Spoken English: 45


Minimum IELTS scores for all programs:

  • Overall IELTS: 6.5 Overall Band Score
  • Writing: 6.5 IELTS Reading
  • Speaking: 7 IELTS Speaking
