Our invited speakers discussed their childhood interests and influences, the arc of their career development and myriad other topics in relation to their great achievements in their fields. Hunter College faculty and students, Hunter College Campus Schools faculty and students, as well as numerous other interested New Yorkers attended the free event at Hunter College. There was a question and answer period after the round-table discussion.

Poet/Author Kip Zegers: Reading Whitman in Manhattan: Teaching, Poetry and Hunter College High School
--Kip Zegers has taught at Hunter College High School (HCHS) for over 20 years. This book provides some of the best poetry published in Argus, the student literary magazine, poems about teaching at HCHS, and literary essays. Gifted Education Workshops with Professionals from Incheon, Korea - January 2011
Instructors: Dr. Razel Solow and Mr. Howard Fuchs
The Center for Gifted Studies and Education hosted thirteen elementary, middle and high school gifted education teachers as well as two Commissioners from the Incheon Metropolitan Department of Education for a week of learning about gifted education in the U.S. Dr. Razel Solow, Director of the Center, and Mr. Howard Fuchs, Adjunct Instructor in Gifted Education, Hunter College, presented eight, half-day sessions on identification, methods and models of teaching gifted students, creativity, gifted programs, guidance and career counseling, among others. The visit culminated on Friday with tours of two Manhattan schools for gifted children: P.S. 77, the Lower Lab school, and the Hunter College Campus Schools (HCCS). Dr. Solow and Mr. Fuchs learned so much from the workshop participants as well.
