Director of Gifted Studies & Education

Dr. Razel Solow, Distinguished Lecturer

  • Razelholds a PhD in Educational Psychology (Gifted) from the University of Virginia and has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in gifted education, special education and inquiry.

  • was a division coordinator for gifted education in Virginia.

  • founded School-Wise, an educational consulting service for schools and families, and focused on the needs of gifted children.

  • taught gifted children in public and private elementary and secondary schools.  

  • served as founder/president of Guiding Gifted Children, a parent resource and support group.

  • was a founding editorial board member of Parenting for High Potential.

  • served as chair of the Parent/Community Division of the National Association for Gifted Children.

  • has published articles on gifted families and has written Women's Lives of Purpose (in press, Great Potential Press) about radically accelerated, early college entrance students at the Program for the Exceptionally Gifted (PEG) at Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA.


In addition to her duties as Director, Dr. Solow is the program coordinator for the Advanced Certificate in Gifted Education as well as a partner to the Hunter College Campus Schools (Hunter College Elementary School and Hunter College High School).
