Program Description

Mentoring

The after-school program is held at Harlem Renaissance High School and Hunter College throughout the week. The after-school program is held from 3:00-5:30 on Mondays and Thursdays at Harlem Renaissance and from 3:00-5:00 on Wednesdays at Hunter College.  The program consists of mentoring, tutoring, SAT/ACT/Regents prep, life skills activities, college exploration, games, field trips and more.  All mentors are supervised by M.S.W. and L.M.S.W. certified staff.

We also encourage mentors to work one-on-one with students outside of the weekly structured after-school program.  The mentors and students can coordinate their individual schedules to accommodate this individual work either on-site at the partner school, at Hunter College, or in a public environment such as a coffee shop.

There are three ways people can get involved in as a mentor for our program:

  • Volunteer
  • Credit for Class:  Urban Affairs 410 and Psychology 201
  • Work-Study
