Community Environmental Monitoring: Community scientists protecting their neighborhood
The COEH was leading a community-based participatory research project along with El Puente de Williamsburg, a community group in Brooklyn, that was sampling air pollution in the neighborhood and investigating the neighborhood determinants on health.
We were combining quantitative and qualitative research methods to investigate local concentrations of air toxics, the social factors that contribute to increased pollution exposures in low-income communities and intervention strategies with youth and adults to improve community health and address inequitable environmental exposures.
