Welcome Class of 2013

Welcome to the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College.  From now on you will be designated as "University Scholar".   Life, and school, as you knew them, will not be the same.   No one will remind you to get up on time for class, do your homework, eat your vegetables, or basically anything for that matter.  But, University Scholars are not alone.  Each of you can avail yourself of the numerous resources available to members of the Macaulay community.  Each of you has been assigned an academic advisor, who will guide you, advise you and listen to you for the next four years.  Each of you can approach the Honors College coordinator who can guide you, advise you and listen to you for the next four years.  And, each of you can approach the Director of the Honors College, who can guide you, advise you and listen to you for the next four years.  In addition, the tech fellows are always available either by email or in person in the Honors College lounge to advise you, guide you and listen to you about technology concerns.

Get to know your professors--professors appreciate students who show up during their office hours, with a specific question about the syllabus or just to talk.   If you are residing in Brookdale, take advantage of the proximity of other students and reach out to someone new.  If you are commuting from home, spending time in the Honors Lounge (room 140HN), where other Honors College students hang out between classes, will enhance your sense of connectedness and community.
