Declaring Your Major
A University Scholar must declare a major no later then the semester in which the combination of credits earned and credits for which one is currently registered totals 61 credits or more. If you do not declare by that time, you will risk losing your TAP money (which does not come directly to you, but helps pay your tuition if you are a New York State resident).
To declare your major, pick up a form in OASIS (room 217N), and then meet with your departmental advisor, who can approve your departmental plans. The Honors College cannot and does not determine or try in any way to affect departmental/major requirements. This does not mean, however, that you should not talk with your Honors College academic advisor about what you are doing in a particular department. Both advisors should always be kept in the loop.
For additional information, see the Undergraduate Catalog, and talk with your departmental and Honors College advisors.
