4. An Internship Opportunity through Patricia Paredes, MHC at Hunter '12!
I am a junior at the Hunter Macaulay Honors College. I recently interviewed for and accepted an internship position as Creative Administrative Assistant at Buttafly Unltd, Inc.
Buttafly Unltd, Inc is a company that sells fashionable T-shirts, accessories, and handbags that celebrate individuality. They also have a side mission and objective: to promote hair in its natural state, and teach people how to take care of it naturally as opposed to resorting to highly processed hair on a frequent basis.
You can check out part of their product selection at:
buttaflyunltd.com
The full-fledged website is scheduled to be up and running soon (perhaps by Thursday of this week).
Upcoming company events include a children's workshop that teach parents how to take care of their childrens' hair (esp for parents who adopt a child of a different race than themselves); a commercial shoot for a hair salon, and regularly blogging about celebrities that sport natural hair, intriguing beard designs, and also following models' lives.
One of my tasks is to find another intern, a Social Networking Intern. Ideally, we are looking for someone who is a strong writer, and is interested in blogging about Buttafly Unltd's events on Facebook and making Twitter posts.
The events to be blogged about include interviews, workshops, and meet-and-greets. This is a very exciting time to be involved with our company, seeing as how we're about to launch the full-fledged version of our website, create a film project, and video magazines.
The job description is as follows:
Title: Social Networking Intern
Hours/Week: 16
Work Site: Mostly Home. Travel to events, photo shoots, Workshops
(mostly in NYC)
How Often Travel: 2/3 days a month (each day, 1-3 hours at event)
Role: Blog about the Company Events, in an exciting, alluring, truthful
manner that promotes Buttafly Unltd, Inc, and its products
~Check out the following sites for more company information/details:

We are screening applicants right now, so if you are interested in the
position, please email me (PPAREDES239@HOTMAIL.COM) for more information. Although this is an unpaid internship, those of you who are interested in gaining experience will not be disappointed. As previously mentioned, you will be surrounded by TV commercial production, model interviews, film and other media production projects.
Finally, if you have all the information you need, and would like to apply, please submit a creative writing sample according to the following:
~Pretend you are covering Prince William and Kate Middleton's
wedding. You must write a blog entry, as long as you desire, but at least two paragraphs, on the momentous occasion. Be yourself (add some zest), and cover all the important details (who, what, when, where, why, how--details can be fictional for this exercise. For the internship, blog posts must contain accurate facts, however).
Looking forward to receiving your writing samples!
