2.  Wow!  or should I say BOW WOW!

CORNELL SCHOOL OF VETERINARY MEDICINE IS COMING TO HUNTER

Friday, May 4  @  6:30pm -9:00pm in  Hunter West 615

EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT VETERINARY MEDICINE

PLUS THERE WILL BE FOOD

 

There will be a series of short presentations that highlight the diversity of vet medicine including alternative vet careers, specialized vet medicine, etc.

Cornell faculty and students will be able to answer all of your questions and share their experiences.

 

3. Do you WANNA A JOB? JOB? JOB? JOB?

 Part-Time Position Available

I am tutoring a ninth-grade student, Katherine, in Biology, Math, and Global, but will be going abroad for a few weeks, and need a replacement.

The job not only consists of helping her with her homework, but also acting as a mentor. She has a lot of potential, but needs to be guided to stay on the right path. The tutor should focus on Regents Prep and help her develop test-taking strategies.  

She lives in Kew Gardens, Queens near the E train. The commitment would be three days a week, 2 hours a day starting the week of May 7th until Regents Week in late June. 

The hours would probably be from 6 to 8 on three school nights. The mom,  Nancy, is very flexible and will work with the student's availability.

4.  Awesome SUMMER INTERMSHIP OPP for the right person

Summer Internship Opportunity with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)

In-house internship position available located in New York City.

Responsibilities include:
•    Help with processing applications for our Young Ambassador Program (http://www.daad.org/?p=68736)
•    Organizing logistics, including transportation, events and workshops for the Young Ambassador training session taking place in New York City from August 17 to August 19, 2012.
•    Help which general office duties such as mail and answering phones

The internship will begin in May (as soon as possible) and end on August 31, 2012.

Strong German knowledge and interest in higher education and/or event management is preferred.

Interns are paid a monthly living allowance of $750 and will be provided with a recommendation letter upon completion of the internship.

5.  SAVE THE DATE...and...PLAN TO ATTEND!

On Friday, May 11th, the Macaulay Musicians' Collective - Macaulay's instrumental ensemble - PLUS the Macaulay Triplets - Macaulay's brand-new A Capella group - will be having a concert to celebrate. T

The concert will be from 7 to about 8:30pm and will be held in the Cabaret of the Macaulay Building.

It's free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.

Along with the performances, the Macaulay Medical Brigades will be on hand to do some fundraising for their trip to Honduras.

 

6.  $$$$$  PAID INTERNSHIP OPP $$$$$$

PAID Internship with the NYC Law Department for Hunter Undergrads -- current rising sophomores and juniors.

 Graduating seniors will not be considered.

Responsibilities:            
   Work with paralegals on active matters, preparing materials for court
  Accompany attorneys to court to watch trials
  Participate in special summer programming, including panels and policy-related presentations about NYC.

7.  The OLYMPICS are not only in London this year!!!!!

The Olympics Committee on the Macaulay Scholars Council has finalized a date and time for the Second Annual Macaulay Olympics (a sports tournament in which the 7 Macaulay campuses compete).

It is scheduled for Wednesday June 6th from 12pm - 4pm.

10.    A Critical Historiography of Puerto Rican Resistance 1969-1989
