Department of Computer Science
Departmental Honors Program

Last year, the Departments of Computer Science and Mathematics & Statistics received a two-year NSF CSEMS grant (Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholarships) that provides 80 scholarships of over $3,000 (per year) to students (majors) in our departments. Eligible students must be citizens or permanent residents, must apply for Hunter financial aid, and have a GPA of 3.2 or better. Interested faculty members in these departments act as mentors. Each NSF scholar picks a mentor and works on a project that the mentor and the student agree upon, earning one credit of Independent Study per semester. The students present their research at monthly NSF Scholar seminars.

Majors in the CSCI Department with a 3.5 in the major who complete a CSCI 493 seminar with a grade of ‘A’ can graduate with departmental honors.
