Department
of Romance Languages
Departmental Honors Program (French, Italian, Spanish)
The
Department of Romance Languages offers a course every year for
those students who want to graduate with Honors in French, Italian
and Spanish (IT, FR, SP, 491). It is for Juniors and Seniors with
a major GPA of 3.5 and a general GPA of 2.8. The students are
required to write an original research paper of at least 7,000
words (circa 25 pages) under the supervision of the Committee
on Honors. In order to encourage majors to become honor students,
the department has instituted a yearly award for outstanding students
in the fundamental courses of the three disciplines: French, Italian,
Spanish 341 and 342. Outstanding seniors are encouraged to enroll
in graduate courses. The Department also has programs in Madrid,
Spain, Pau in France, Florence, Italy, and a summer session program
at the University of Chieti-Pescara.
