New York City Health Benefits Seminars- April 2017

Priority: Informational

Health Benefits Seminar(s) Calenedar- April 2017

Dear Prospective Retirees:

While active  employees go their campus Benefits Office for health benefits.  Retirees go to the Health Benefits Client Service Center at OLR for retiree information, employees transitioning to retirement often turn to their pension plans or unions with their health benefits questions. For this reason, a seminar called Transitioning to Retirement is being introduced and offered at 40 Rector Street, on the 3rd floor.

The Department of Human Resources/Benefits is asking all prospective retirees  to take full advantage of the benefits available to you and  encourage all employees transitioning to retirement to make the Health Benefits Program one of their stops on the way to retirement.

There will be a seminar each week, with alternating lunchtime and after-work sessions. You can sign up for these seminars on the OLR website at Alternatively, employees may visit and scroll down to the bottom of the page where you will find the Transition to Retirement flyer under “Featured Items.” By clicking this flyer, you will be linked directly to the Eventbrite registration page.

In addition, OLR  developed a two-part video series which provides employees who are getting ready to retire with information about how their health insurance will change as a retiree. The videos can be found on the OLR website at:

Part One (5:12):

Part Two (4:13):

While many questions will be answered in these videos, the seminar provides employees the opportunity to address individual and personal issues one-on-one with knowledgeable Retirement Representative.

Please see the attached for the HBP Transitioning to Retirement schedule for April 2017.

Locations/Directions for on-site seminar: 40 Rector Street, 3rd Floor
