HUMAN ECOLOGY: An Interdisciplinary Journal provides a forum for papers concerned with the complex and varied systems of interaction between people and their environment. Research papers from such diverse fields as anthropology, geography, psychology, biology, sociology, and urban planning are welcomed. All submissions are peer reviewed. The journal also features a Book Review section. Human Ecology is published by Springer Science & Business media, 233 Spring Street, New York, NY, 10013, the second largest publisher of scientific journals and books. All articles are widely abstracted and indexed on over 70 databases. We welcome contributions in the form of feature articles, research reports, brief communications, multiple-book review essays, book reviews, and commentaries. Human Ecology appears six times a year for a total of more than 1200 printed pages. Accepted and edited contributions are published online (Online First) prior to the print edition. The Journal is now in its 37th year of publication and enjoys worldwide circulation. Print copies are available in the libraries of most leading universities and centers for environmental research.
