SUSTAINABLE CUNY.  Sustainable CUNY was formed after CUNY Chancellor Matthew Goldstein accepted Mayor Bloomberg's "30 in 10" Challenge.  Read more about the Challenge HERE.  Sustainable CUNY is the umbrella organization charged with coordinating sustainability efforts among all 23 CUNY institutions.  Its Task Force offers Hunter's Sustainability Council advice and support in becoming "greener" and in drafting our individualized campus sustainability plan.  Visit Sustainable CUNY's homepage HERE.

Hunter participates in Peak Load Management, a power conservation program which enables our campuses to reduce electricity use on days when demand on the regional power grid is greatest.  This program is administered by the New York Power Authority.

The Power Authority also facilitated efficiencies that have been integrated into Hunter's pool and air compression system upgrades.

The Department of Sanitation of the City of New York picks up and processes the paper, bottles and cans we recycle.  Learn more about them HERE.

DASNY--the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York--collaborates with Hunter College on a variety of campus construction projects that bring energy savings and efficiencies to the school.  Learn more about DASNY here.

City Harvest contributes to Hunter's effort to reduce unnecessary food waste by collecting first-quality, fresh food items that our dining facility has left over at the end of the day but is unable to sell.

Hunter College has partnered with MillionTreesNYC, the public/private organization which has as its mission the goal of planting a million trees throughout New York City by 2017.  The organization donated 16 trees to Hunter; the trees can be found on our main campus and on the Brookdale campus.  Read more about MillionTreesNYC HERE.
