Classroom Technology Services Policy

Obtaining equipment from Classroom Technology Services has been modified as of September, 2008 in order to improve the quality of services.

  1.  For classrooms with equipment built-in: Since Hunter College now has over 132 classrooms with built in projection and sound, there will no longer be the need to deliver this equipment. Of course, ICIT staff will be available to assist with the use of this equipment.  Click here to get a list of classrooms with built-in equipment. Instructors who need laptop computers for use in instruction in these rooms may borrow them for the term. Click here for more information about the laptop loans for faculty.
  2. For classrooms without built-in equipment: We will endeavor to deliver a cart with equipment to rooms that are not so equipped, ideally at the start of the day. However, due to staff shortages, we will not be able to guaranty such delivery. In cases where we cannot deliver, we will ask faculty to pick up the equipment from the Classroom Technology Services (AV) office.
  3. For overhead projectors:  Classroom and Technology Services will station an overhead projector in any classroom that an instructor requests one. The overhead projectors will be delivered before the start of the class day and remain in the room until the end of the class day.

Maintenance of equipment: Each day, Monday through Friday, before the start of classes, ICIT Classroom Technology staff will tour all classrooms with AV equipment to test and maintain it. Problems that occur during the day should be immediately reported to Classroom Technology Services. For information about how to reach Classroom Technology Services, click here.

The new policy will result in a near complete elimination of class-time equipment delivery to classrooms, which has been a major source of problems, and should help keep all equipment in classrooms in good shape.

ICIT's Classroom Technology Services has additional AV equipment available.

ICIT's Classroom Technology Services also has media production services available.
