Objectives of Technology Fee
The Student Technology Fee at Hunter College is dedicated to the acquisition, installation, maintenance, and intelligent use of state-of-the-art technology solely for the purpose of supporting and enhancing student experience and learning, and preparing graduates for the workplaces of the twenty-first century.

Proposal Guidelines
Technology Fee proposals can be submitted to:

Most proposals are comprised of the following components:

Cover or Title Page
The title page contains the following information:

  • Principal Investigator’s name, address, phone number
  • Title of proposal
  • Department name
  • Time frame of project with start and end dates
  • Amount requested
  • Submission date
  • Signature of Principal Investigator

Abstract
The abstract outlines the proposed research/activity, including objectives, methodology, and significance of the research/activity.

Statement of Work
The Statement of Work provides a full and detailed explanation of the proposed research, typically including a project timetable. It should include general background information regarding how the project relates to the impact of technology for students.

Budget
The budget includes a reasonable estimate of the financial support required to conduct the project, including justification of budget expenses. Budget could include any of the following:

Equipment
Any item of technology equipment. Includes cost of shipping, installation, and fabrication.

Materials and Supplies
Expendable items with a useful life of less than two years. Include description of category (e.g. software) and best estimate of cost.

Student Consultants
List each consultant, their specialty or service to the project, and their daily, weekly or monthly rate of reimbursement, and show the consultant’s total projected cost on the project.

Cost Sharing
Cost sharing is any cost to the project not borne by the sponsor.
Budget cannot be requested for full time staff or consultants.

Using Technology Fee Interns for Creating Course Web Pages and Technical Help
Qualified student interns are available at the TRC to directly assist faculty in learning how to create a course web page. Faculty who are interested in working with interns need to submit a one page proposal to Michael Nisbett (mike.nisbett@hunter.cuny.edu), ICIT, Room 109N, stating their goals for the integration of Internet/WWW and related technologies into their teaching curriculum.
