Change to anti-spam service Nov. 22 - 11/20/2009
Anti-spam and virus scanning for all email users at the college (including faculty, students and staff) is being updated to a new system on Sunday, November 22nd. Starting Sunday, November 22, Hunter College email will use a new system, also named HC Mailguard, which will be integrated with our Mirapoint email system. Information about anti-spam and virus scan results will be presented in a system-based junk mail folder instead of emailed digests. ICIT recommends that everyone using a desktop client (e.g. Eudora, Outlook, Apple Mail) turn off the anti-spam settings in the desktop client to prevent having multiple types of scanning or multiple 'Junk Mail' folders.

Key points of the revised HC Mailguard:
- No more daily digests via email
- Suspect spam will be directed to a 'Junk Mail' folder on the email system. This folder will be viewable in Webmail and IMAP desktop clients. POP client users should review Junk Mail in Webmail at least once per week. See http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/icit/help-docs/mailguard-2009/mailguard-faqs for more info.
- Junk Mail will contain seven days worth of messages only. Any non-junk messages must be moved to the Inbox within one week.
