NetID vs. Portal ID

Hunter NetID vs. CUNY Portal ID: which ID to use for which services

The Hunter NetID is used for services hosted at Hunter College, such as:

  • Informed Registration
  • E-mail
  • WiFi (hunternet) access
  • PAC logon (Students only)
  • Podcasting
  • Library journal and database access while off-campus
  • Teachers Evaluations
  • WebAttendance
  • WebCMS (requires activation)
  • WebGrade
  • WebRoster (Faculty only)

The CUNY Portal ID is used for services hosted centrally at CUNY, such as:

  • Blackboard (“Side Door” access to Blackboard is no longer supported)
  • CUNY eMall
  • ePermit
  • DIG/Degree Audit
  • eSIMS

There are some services which do not use the NetID or the Portal ID.  You need to have a separate username and password to access them.  These include:

  • MyChoice

  • Facilities Work Order system
  • WTTS (time clocking system)
  • Human Resources Employee Time & Leave inquiry system
  • FOCIS
  • Listserv
  • Non-WebCMS website editing
  • Local department IT services, unless otherwise specified
