NetID Central for password change

Thursday Oct. 8: updating passwords for Hunter NetID accounts now uses a special web application called "NetID Central".

Important points about NetID Central:

  • Web application to change password for Hunter NetID only. Not related to PortalID
  • Imposes a uniform password strength standard for NetID passwords
  • Uses alternate contact info for NetID notifications or self-reset of forgotten password
  • Current password will still work for now
  • NetID Central is not a service gateway (e.g. a portal or webmail)

Important points about using SMTP over port 587:

  • Will work on-campus and with most ISP networks
  • Eudora will prompt the user with an alert on the first attempt to send mail over port 587 with TLS.
