Plagiarism has become a serious concern for many educators, who would like to instill the core value of academic integrity in their students. Hunter College has taken strong steps to address this issue by approving a new policy on academic integrity and by licensing Turnitin, a web-based tool that can be used to detect plagiarism and to educate students about appropriate use of sources. In this presentation, we discuss academic integrity as it pertains to the Hunter community and give you an overview of Turnitin.

Presenters
Joan Tronto, Professor of Political Science and Hunter Senate Chair
Nancy Guerrero, Coordinator of the Reading/Writing Center Computer Facility
Michael Nisbett, Manager, ICIT’s Technology Resource Center.
