Professional English Academy
The Professional English Academy offers advanced level courses for non-native English speakers. These English courses are designed for professionals who are seeking to perfect and polish the English language skills they need at work. This program is ideal for professionals with limited time who feel they can benefit from improving their accuracy and efficiency in communicating in English.
Speaking for Professionals $400 Mondays 6:30-8:30pm
For professionals who feel uncomfortable speaking in English at the office or at business gatherings, these courses will help boost your confidence. In this course, students will practice and perfect their oral communication skills in order to function more comfortably in a business setting. The class will focus on the following areas: business meetings, professional presentations, interviewing skills, telephone skills and appropriate business language.
Grammar for Professionals $400 Tuesdays 6:30-8:30pm
For professionals who would like to review advanced level English grammar so that they can feel more comfortable in both written and spoken communication in English. In this course, students will review advanced level grammar which will help them to improve their overall written and spoken accuracy in order to function more efficiently and feel more secure in a business environment.
Writing for Professionals $400 Wednesdays 6:30-8:30pm
For professionals who wish to practice and improve their skills in written business communications while reviewing English grammar. In this course, students will analyze, practice and improve their skills in written business communication, including business letters, reports, memos, summaries, email messages, and meeting minutes, while reviewing and correcting necessary English grammar.
Pronunciation for Professionals $400 Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm
For professionals who feel that their pronunciation and/or intonation of American English interferes with their ability to communicate. In this course, students learn to identify their pronunciation difficulties and increase their accuracy in producing more native-like American English. This class will also focus on producing appropriate rhythms, intonation and stress in conversational English.
This program runs on a 7 week calendar.
- Students may take 1, 2, 3, or 4 courses each term and may combine them with Academic Skills courses.
- Students can register for a 7-week session and, if they choose to continue, they may register for a consecutive 7-week session which will cover new material.
Oral interviews are required for Speaking and Pronunciation courses, and walk-in placement exams for Writing and Grammar. Prospective students in need of an oral interview should email the IELI at email@example.com to schedule a phone interview and must provide a phone number where they can be reached. Students administered the walk-in exam must place at level 6 for entry.
