INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH
International research is
growing and many countries are developing guidelines.
The Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) has
developed a compilation of laws, regulations and
guidelines that govern human subjects’ research in
many countries around the world.
The compilation provides a listing of the guidelines,
laws and regulations on privacy/data protection, human
biological materials and genetic research. The
listing presently encompasses 92 countries with
standards listed by international organizations. Each
country can be found within their respective
continents where the information is listed in four
columns. The columns are labeled: Key Organizations,
Legislation, Regulations, and Guidelines. Most
listings are in English, however, the language is
indicated in parenthesis if it is not in English.
The information can be found at this link:

The IRB will require
approval from the governing body or documentation
from that body that your research does not fall
under their purview.
If there is no
governing body, please contact the IRB Office.
