IRBNet Submissions

  • Starting on November 19th, 2011 IRBNet is being used for all submissions. Submissions include new protocols, continuing reviews, amendments/modifications to an already approved study, research determination forms, final reports, unanticipated problem reports, and protocol deviation forms. If you are unsure about which forms to submit, please contact the Hunter College HRPP Office: 212 650-3053 or hrpp@hunter.cuny.edu.

Instructions for Submitting New Protocols

  • Go to the IRBNet website:    https://www.irbnet.org/release/index.html
  • Click on "New User Registration".
  • After you have registered you can submit a new protocol by clicking on "Create New Project" and begin filling in the necessary information about your new submission and click "next".
  • The next steps (1 and 2) are for submission of Application Part I, II and any other forms being submitted for review and approval.
  • Application Part I can be found under Step 2, by clicking on the "Add new document". It will then appear within "On-line Document" as, "CUNY-Application for Approval to Use Human Participants in Research, Part I".
  • All key personnel must be listed in Application Part I, be registered on IRBNet and then be "shared" on initial applications submitted via IRBNet to link their CITI certificate to the package. In order to link your CITI certificate to any package, it should first be uploaded to your user profile under "Training and Credentials" and then linked to the relevant package by going to the designer page and clicking "link/unlink records".
  • Initial application Part II can be found in the "Forms and Templates" section of IRBNet. Please also note that all forms are now located in the Forms and Templates section of IRBNet.
  • After all necessary forms are attached to your package, it should be electronically signed and submitted to the Hunter College HRPP Office.
  • If you are a student and your faculty advisor needs to sign off on your submission, he or she must be "shared" on the package to do so. He or she must also have an active user profile in IRBNet to do so. If a package is submitted to the Hunter College HRPP office without the necessary signatures (PI and faculty advisor), it will not be reviewed.
Please note, the package should only be submitted to the campus in which your faculty advisor has his/her primary affiliation.
  • Please refer to the following link if you have additional questions on how to submit via IRBNet: http://www.cuny.edu/research/compliance/human-subjects-research-1.html

Instructions for Submitting Continuing Reviews/Final Reports or Amendments Previously Approved via IRBManager

  • Go to the IRBNet website:    https://www.irbnet.org/release/index.html
  • Click on "New User Registration".
  • After you have registered you can submit a new protocol by clicking on "Create New Project" and begin filling in the necessary information about your submission. Being that protocols were not transferred from IRBManager into IRBNet, it must be treated as a "new project".
  • Application Part I is required regardless of the type of submission (continuing review/final reports or amendments/modifications) and can be found in Step 2 on the "Designer" page of your new package. All key personnel will be added to this form, there isn't a separate key personnel form. However, if Application Part I mentions necessary Supplement Forms, please disregard this- unless a Continuing Review is being submitted.
  • The most recently approved protocol (most recently approved continuation or approved application from IRBM) will be attached, along with the most recently approved stamped documents.  The most recent approval letter should also be submitted with the package (not necessary for submission of Final Reports). For continuing reviews, all documents that will be used moving forward (clean copies of consent forms, recruitment materials, instruments, etc.) should also be uploaded with your package.
  • Application Part II must be completed and attached if changes have been made to the protocol. This form can be found in the "Forms and Templates" section of IRBNet.
  • The amendment request and continuing review forms are also found in the "Forms and Templates" section and should be attached to your package. Once all items are completed and attached, the package can be electronically signed and submitted to the Hunter College HRPP office for review and approval.
  • If you are a student and your faculty advisor needs to sign off on your submission, he or she must be "shared" on the package to do so. If a package is submitted to the Hunter College HRPP office without the necessary signatures (PI and faculty advisor), it will not be reviewed.
Please note, the package should only be submitted to the campus in which your faculty advisor has his/her primary affiliation.
